Tried this place due to co-workers recommendations. I was not impressed. To start off, we seated at a table that was sticky and not clean. This was a major turn off and I hoped the food would make up for this error. We tried the fish/chips and the fried shrimp. With all the fresh shrimp that surrounds this area, we were served frozen breaded shrimp you get at your local grocery store. The fish and chips were just the same as the shrimp. For this to be your specialty, you would expect more. The only bright spot was that we had a great waiter. I would say pass on this spot and try other fish/seafood restaurants that are nearby.

The Fish Company is located inside the Bass Pro Shops. You can enter two ways from outside or from within the store. I have been here maybe a dozen times. The food is nothing special just ordinary seafood nothing on the menu stands out. I love fried clams and this place has them and that's usually what I get. I have tried many different things here and I can honestly say that I have never had anything bad but nothing on the menu makes my taste- buds explode either. The bar is a very nice place to sit and eat or have a beer while you watch the fish swim by in the aquarium. If you are in the area and feel like having anywhere from a burger to seafood then you might like to try this place out , just don't expect the food angels to be singing in your ears. The beer is cold, the food average, the service is hit and miss and the place is very clean. Food 3 out of 5 Service 3 out of 5 Cleanliness 5 out of 5 ***UPDATE*** As of 1-25-14 .. I took away a star . If you notice in my review I mainly go to this place for the fried clams. I ordered my usual fried clams on 1-25-14 . The clams had a different batter on them and the clams were non-existent. I could literally squeeze the clam shaped batter and there was nothing inside. This is not an exaggeration, at least 60 percent of the clams were like this. I asked the wonderful waiter Jason about it and he told me that they started ordering their clams and oysters from somewhere else. Bad move Islamorada. After he told me this I did a little investigating and found that THEY DON'T BUY ANY OF THEIR SEAFOOD LOCALLY? are you kidding me ? I know you can't have everything fresh but you guys are maybe 10 miles from a seafood market that get fresh fish, oysters and shrimp in everyday, sure it cost more but people will pay more for good fresh food.

It is a stretch to give this place two stars... The server was an elderly lady who did keep our drinks full "BUT" she was rude as hell... Saying things like "excuse me but your gonna have to move your arm...." Or " I can wait here for only so long while you talk..."... It was shocking. Also, when it comes to the food.... I noticed that they are SO cheap... They actually cut the shrimp down the middle to make it look like you are getting more shrimp in your gumbo. This place only makes money because of the busy I-10 traffic that constantly flows here... The locals know to steer clear of this place and move further down the causeway to eat at either Felix's or R & R Seafood..... Save your money and your stomach go somewhere else... Even McDonalds will be a better outcome.

Wife and I are there a little over a month ago. Service is so so plenty empty tables but you wait. The food was terrible we both had beer batter cod fish was very gummy. The price was a lot higher than the other places around so you expect the food to be good. We complained about the quality the waitress said oh you don't like order something else next time. There will never be a next time beef o Brady is good Felix and oyster house are really good. I have never had a bad meal at those and price is better. I would never recommend this place to anyone

Great atmosphere, and in a town full of great seafood this place holds its own quite nicely. Try the Calamari and request a table near the fish tank.

We talk about eating here every time we go to Bass Pro. We finally gave it a try, and it's pretty much what I expected. The food is decent. I had a burger, which really had a great chargrilled flavor but they were a little skimpy with the avocado. The hubs had Mahi tacos, which were not made with fresh seafood but did have a some sort of yummy sauce on them. A tourist who's not used to fresh seafood would probably be more impressed than someone who lives here. The prices were average. The service was good. The atmosphere is pleasant and there's a nice covered patio outside.

I've eaten here three times. It's a favorite of my boyfriend, and we often come here after visiting the Mobile area. The food is okay to good, not great. It's your typical seafood menu with some of the restaurant chain essentials added in. I always fill up on the shrimp and crab gumbo and the free sweet bread. I am by no means a gumbo expert, but its darn good to me and the bread is the best thing there and I don't usually like bread that much to eat it by itself. I will usually order an entree just to try it. This time I got the crab cakes. They weren't good to me. They were falling apart and seemed too "wet". The seasoning took away from the seafood/crab flavor. The romulade sauce is a must to force it down. The oysters on the half shell are 15 dollars a dozen, which is outrageous. I can get a dozen of the same type oysters 2 hours further from the water for 6 bucks. Service is a bit slower than normal, not glaring, but it's not prompt. It's cool that this restaurant is attached to Bass Pro Shops so you can look around before or after you eat. Go for the gumbo and the bread if you are in the Spanish Fort area.

Really enjoyed this place. New and clean and a huge, beautiful fish tank that my 2 year old didn't want to leave. The fried calamari app was the best I've ever had. I'd say ordering fish and chips usually equals disappointment for me. Not here, the cod with delicately breaded and fried. You'd think that a restaurant built into Bass Pro Shop would be sketchy. This one is actually very good and we'll be back.

This is part of Bass Pro Shop and easy walking distance from my home so one early evening I ventured over for a bite. It was disappointing. While there is a good amount of seafood on the menu, little of it uses our local supply of abundant resources. It was not inspiring and didn't get me excited about my meal. It is a quite large area and there were no other tables filled on Saturday at 6 o'clock. Still, service was slow. I started with a salad, and that was very good, as was the dressing. After asking for bread I got a warm loaf and it was tasty. By then, and after the wait, I was full. But I had the tacos on their way so I waited some more. When they did arrive they were hot and well-presented, but far from anything to get excited about eating. Then came a HUGE pet peeve of mine - The bill was picked up with change needed and I had to wait over ten minutes in an empty restaurant. Eventually I found the waitress chatting at the bar and got my money back (the tip was smaller than I had planned on, even though service was never even adequate). One last gripe: Please, please never clean my table as I am sitting and especially with a wet rag of unknown origins. I won't be back, but was glad for the exercise.

we came in to eat in our way to mobile and the hostess said it would be a 45 minute wait. I asked her about the 10 open tables and she said that we couldn't sit there because there are people a head of us?? looking around in confusion I asked her who as she told me "other people" the dining room was empty there were servers everywhere with nothing to do, there were 4 ladies standing around the hostess table looking at me like I had 10 heads because we wanted to sit at empty clean tables. we won't be back.

Have eaten here quite a few times over the past few years, the service is marginal, the food overpriced, and the quality is that from food service boxes, i.e.frozen, not fresh. I keep saying we are not going back, and yet we do, only when shopping at Bass.

The atmosphere was the only thing this place is doing right. The food just isn't good. The bread for the sandwiches and burgers was so dry we didn't even eat it. The prices were fairly high as well. Never again- go else where.

How sad that an awesome atmosphere produces such mediocre food. IF you avoid the alligator, the gumbo, and the venison stuffed sausage and stick to the grilled chicken salad ($12) you will walk away reasonably satisfied. Almost empty at lunch time and the other times I have walked by I rarely see more than a few tables with people. That fact should warn most people that there is a reason it remains fairly empty most of the time. We had lunch for 4, two draft beers, and with a 15% tip walked away $105 poorer. Will not be back. To many other local places to relish our abundant Gulf of Mexico resources.

I've been over to Penney's a thousand times and never realized that there was a restaurant attached to Bass Pro. It is very easy to miss because there are trees in the way and its sign is similar to Bass Pro's sign. If you're facing the front of Bass Pro, it is the door to your left. When we entered I was hit with the most amazing smokehouse scent. It reminded me of a living exhibit at Williamsburg, where they smoked meats. The building is pretty nice, but there is something sticky in bare spots in the carpet. Maybe they're getting ready to put new carpet in, I'm not sure. In any case, it's clean. When we arrived it was practically empty, because we were having a late lunch (2:00 p.m.). At first, I was mistaken in feeling like our waitress was rude. I asked how fast it would be because we had to be over at Penney's in 50 minutes and it felt like she snapped at me "well it depends on what you order!" However, that was apparently a bad first impression because she really was very attentive and kind. Maybe I sounded rude; that's entirely possible. I had the smoked wahoo wrap with a side salad. Wahoo is similar to a mild mackerel, but the sandwich was made like a tuna salad. It's a little on the salty side, which I don't like, but there's a lot of fish in there. I hate salt and don't even like the taste of it at all. One thing I did notice was that my side salad was huge. That's really all I needed because when we sat down they brought us bread, like most mid-grade restaurants and steak houses do, and that was plenty. It occurred to me that if you're lucky enough to just order a side salad (most restaurants won't let you), you could get a lunch here for less than $4! Oh and, their bread has a hint of sweet cinnamon. It's really very good. I don't especially like my breads sweet, but this was surprisingly good. It wasn't overpowering like a cinnamon bun. The cost is a bit much, but they don't have your usual fish on the menu either. Finding Wahoo is just about impossible. In fact, I believe this is the only restaurant I've ever seen it in, so that says a lot! All in all, it's a bit pricey but the food is good and the portions are large.

Good service. GREAT shrimp and grits. Would definitely return! And can't beat the view of the fish tank.

Unlike others than have written, I was seated right away. However, no one seemed to want to wait on me after being seated. After waiting about 15 minutes another waitress came over to ask if anyone had helped me. Apparently she could discern from my tone that I was less than pleased with my experience thus far. She graciously offered to assist me. I inquired as to what was on tap. She told me that she fetch me the drinks menu. When she brought it back I could not find a listing of what was on tap. She responded that these are not listed. Instead she recited the offerings. I placed my order, she left, and then returned to tell me that they, apparently, no longer offered that selection. By now I believe that you get the idea of my dining experience there.

Islamorada Fish Co is the restaurant in the Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World, so that's your landmark if you are looking for it (and you can't miss that!) The big draw is the atmosphere. The place is decorated in fishing motif and the centerpiece is a huge aquarium. Even though they had empty tables, they made us wait about 10 minutes giving us a pager that they said could be reached anywhere in the huge outdoor shop (hint, go do some shopping.) The Famous Grouper Sandwich was good but not outstanding. I ordered the Smoked Wahoo Wrap and was expecting chunks of smoked meat inside. Instead, I got a fish salad (kind of like a chicken salad) with little smoky flavor. The Venison Stuffed Mushrooms were better than average. The bread has a cinnamon sugar coating. I say it is worth stopping in if you are shopping in the area and maybe once to experience the atmosphere, but I wouldn't make it a regular stop.
